"Two can live as cheaply as one" has become "Two incomes are better than one!"

Are you and your spouse considering going from two incomes down to one after child birth? Having trouble living on one income and considering a second income to help ends meet? This book helps simplify the process of determining if a two income household is beneficial.

Includes worksheets for analyzing the extra costs associated with a second income and numerous examples taken from real-life situations showing the pros/cons of a second income. This book will help you figure out where your money is going so you can decide what will work for you--one or two incomes.

This book is not against working moms but an examination of the realities of having a second job. A must-have for anyone considering work outside the home. If you don't have kids, this book may not appeal to you, since most of the examples do relate to working parents, not childless couples.

A Rediscovery of Two Books

1993 Edition of The Tightwad Gazette: Promoting Thrift as a Viable Alternative Lifestyle by Amy Dacyczyn.

I don't remember exactly when or where I got this book. Every now and again I will pull it off the shelf and go through the pages looking for ideas. I have found a few that I will be trying to implement in the near future.

1975 Edition of The Up With Wholesome, Down with Store Bought: Book of Recipes and Household Formulas by Yvonne Young Tarr.

This is another book I have had for some time. A make-it-yourself and save money cookbook. If you can purchase it in the store, then you can make it better yourself, quickly, easily, and lots cheaper too.

This is a fun book to have!!

Been Learning Something New

Last year I received a $50 gift card for Walden Books. The store in our area is not very well stocked of books I prefer to read. So it was decision time on what to buy.

At the time I was working 2 jobs and did not have time to prepare home cooked food for my partner and I. I had a slower cooker but in the 5 years of owning it I had never used it. I had heard they are fairly easy to use but I had no clue as to how,,,so on a whim I purchased this book:

It was the best purchase I made. I highly suggest this book especially if you are a beginner with a slow cooker. And yes I do know all the negatives surrounding slow cooker meals (ie. use of canned/processed food, bland flavor, etc) but I have been able to improvise to make nice tasting food. The only problem I have discovered is that it's really really hard to sleep smelling good food cooking .
